When tires need to be replaced

Tread wear indicators
Most tires have tread wear indicators – solid rubber bands are only visible when the tread depth exceeds the safe driving limit, which is generally 1.6 mm. If this is the case breaking distance on wet surface can be twice as long comparing to new tires (tread depth 8 mm). It is recommended to change the tires when the profile drops below 3 mm.
Uneven tire wear
You should check the tread for uneven wear patterns as these patterns may indicate either tire or vehicle problems.
Protrusion on the sidewall of the tire
